Rechel Shapiro

Rechel Shapiro (1902-2007) was a Hasidic Rebbetzin and a scion of the extended Hasidic dynasty of Nadvorna and Kretshniff. She was the eldest daughter of Grand Rebbe Issamar Rosenbaum (1886-1973) of Nadvorna.
She was married to her first cousin, Grand Rebbe Yisochor Ber Shapiro (1900-1957), The Kechneye Rebbe.
At the time of her death, she was the longest living chassidic rebbitzen in recorded history.
She died at the age of 105 in 2007. She was buried alongside her husband and in the proximity of her venerable mother, Rebbitzen Malka, in the old cemetery in Tiberias, Israel.
Her son, Rabbi Meyer Shapiro (1920-1998), was the chief rabbi of Buenos Aires and chairman of the Iggud HaRabonim of America.
